PIECES
PIECES
Exhibited:
OBJEKT, Aarhus,
August-September 2024.
Participants:
Daniela Bergschneider (DK/NO), Helen Clara Hemsley (DK/ZA), Theis Lorentzen (DK), Sara Mirkhani (DK) and Pia Angela Rasmussen (DK).
Curated by:
HINT project (Mariko Wada and Sanne Ransby).
PIECES presents works by five artists, each of whom has developed distinctive techniques and artistic expressions by combining multiple components into cohesive works. The exhibition evokes a sensory wholeness, where ceramics, textiles, jewellery and furniture interact.
The exhibition seeks to mirror the fragmentation of contemporary times and the interest in posing questions and creating new connections. Particularly emphasized is the innovation and artistic qualities that emerge when artists and artisans combine elements, materials, stories, and production methods, both in a concrete sense and in a mental dimension that transcends disciplines.
The selected works, for example, question contemporary overconsumption and overproduction, reflect on the relationship between nature and culture, and challenge the relationship between human and object.

With my heart on my sleeve, and my feet on the ground
With my heart on my sleeve, and my feet on the ground
Exhibited:
Jewelers’Werk Galerie, Washington D.C.,
February 2024
With my heart on my sleeve, and my feet on the ground is about how I tackle life. An overflow of feelings, with sharp observation and constant alertness. With a fair share of drama and fleeting moments of disaster. But for the most part, a lot of happiness, love, freedom and power. This translates into my work, and as always there is a twist of critical observation, mixed with humour and a feeling of lightheartedness. The materials and objects I use have an odd sense of familiarity about them, but at the sametime give a perplexing feeling of not being completely sure why they are important, what they symbolize and sometimes where they come from. Once again, I take traditional textile techniques and bring them into the now, with a story telling and questioning approach that is more important than ever, these days.

TakeAWAY
TAKEAWAY
MAKING THE MOST OF IT is an interactive project where 25 participants gave me materials/objects/stories that represented their time in the first Corona lockdown, which I in turn used to make 7 necklaces.
Nominated for the Biennale Prize, 2021.
The prize committee’s statement:
"Jewellery as a carrier of personal stories forms a strong narrative, whose basic fabric is human not material. The pieces become images of a time of crisis, when new creativity blooms and old dogmas are challenged. The artist’s interpretation of the personal stories is both refreshing and humorous but also has a serious note, and the personal artefacts have been treated with great care, whether they are gold or a roller-skate wheel."
